- Bring your own resusable shopping bags when you shop.
- Replace incandescent light bulbs with CFL bulbs.
- Wash clothes in cold water.
- Use weather-stripping and caulk to repair gaps and cracks in door and window frames
- Fix any dripping faucets.
- Choose natural cleaning products
- Don't light your entire room; focus light only where you need it.
- Use your ceiling fan year-round to circulate the air so your furnance and air conditioner don't have to work so hard.
Build a Rain Barrel
Once in place, your rain barrel will capture water that would otherwise run off your roof and into the storm drain.
Materials Needed:
- Ace 32-gallon plastic trash can (Ace no. 7131451)
- Wire window screen, 6 inches by 6 inches square
- 8 small bolts, nuts and washers
- 3/4 inch hose bib
- 3/4-inch MHT to 3/4-inch MPT adapter
- 90 degree PVC street elbow, 3/4-inch
- Thread seal tape
- Cinder blocks
